![]() The fabulous Sir Ken Robinson talks about his new book 'The Element', the point at which natural talent meets personal passion. When people arrive at the Element, they feel most themselves and most inspired and achieve at their highest levels. With a wry sense of humor, Ken Robinson looks at the conditions that enable us to find ourselves in the Element and those that stifle that possibility. Drawing on the stories of a wide range of people, including Paul McCartney, Matt Groening, Richard Branson, Arianna Huffington, and Bart Conner, he shows that age and occupation are no barrier and that this is the essential strategy for transforming education, business, and communities in the twenty-first century. A breakthrough book about talent, passion, and achievement from one of the world's leading thinkers on creativity and self-fulfillment.

“If a child lives with criticism, he learns to condemn ...
If a child lives with hostility, he learns to fight ... If a child lives with fear, he learns to be apprehensive ... If a child lives with pity, he learns to feel sorry for himself ... If a child lives with ridicule, he learns to be shy ... If a child lives with jealousy, he learns to feel envy ... If a child lives with shame, he learns to feel guilty ... BUT If a child lives with tolerance, he learns to be patient ... If a child lives with encouragement, he learns to be confident ... If a child lives with praise, he learns to be appreciative ... If a child lives with acceptance, he learns to love ... If children live with approval, they learn to like themselves... If a child lives with honesty, he learns what truth is ... If a child lives with fairness, he learns justice . . . If children live with recognition, they learn to have a goal. . . If children live with sharing, they learn to be generous. . . If a child lives with security, he learns to have faith in himself and those about him... If a child lives with friendliness, he learns the world is a nice place in which to live. " Dorothy Law Nolte, Children Learn What They Live: Parenting to Inspire Values "If you correct your mind, the rest of your life will fall into place." -Lao Tzu Lao Tzu was born around the year 604 BC in Louyang China to the name Li Erh, and it is said that he had a head of completely white hair! The name Lao Tzu (often also called Laozi) was given to him later on in life when he worked for the King as the keeper of the imperial archives. The name translates to mean "The Old Master."
Lao Tsu was a philosopher /sage of ancient China, best known as the author of the Tao Te Ching. This writing has led him to be traditionally considered the founder of philosophical Taoism. Taoism is a philosophical and religious tradition that emphasizes living in harmony with the Tao which means the "way", "path" or "principle", the "driving force" behind everything that exists. The Tao Te Ching offers you Divine guidance on virtually every area of human existence. Dr Wayne Dyer, through his book "Living the Wisdom of the Tao", has managed to capture the scared teachings of the Tao in an easy to understand book. Although just 81 short verses, the Tao encourages you to change your life by literally changing the way you think. By reading through the verses presented in Dr Dyer's book (which he's pieced together after reviewing hundreds of translations), along with the corresponding affirmation he's created for each verse, you'll be embarking on a path that encompasses the profound ideas that Lao-tzu intended to convey. I've just finished reading 'No Sweat' a fabulous little book by The Wellness Brothers. Most people I meet seem to have very little time for exercise in their day, yours truly included, and my advice is always to increase activity as much as possible by using stairs and walking whenever possible, and also by providing people with online resources for exercising in the comfort of their own home (look at my previous posts)...well this book tackles just that, and in an easy to follow guide. 'No sweat' shows you how to include short bursts of exercise into your day (only 2-3 mns each time) and in the process work your whole body out. I love how the well thought out exercises cover upper body, lower body and core so that you have an evenly balanced body … and you can honestly do these anywhere...I highly recommend it to anyone struggling to find time for fitness and is desperately looking for a solution…well here it is!
