Start by rubbing your hands together vigorously to create heat in your palms. Cover your eyes with your cupped palms and breathe deeply for a few minutes. You can rest your elbows comfortably on a table or desk if you prefer. Let go of all tension in your eyes, neck, head and shoulders.
The technique of palming rests the eyes from all light stimulation and the heat from your hands will calm you very quickly. You will find that palming relaxes more than your eyes. Notice that your shoulders, neck, and other tight spots start to let go. Eyestrain usually goes hand in hand with rigidity all through the body. Palming just a few minutes in the morning, at night, or while at work is a great way to stay balanced!
